The Warming House

This was the only heated room in the original abbey, apart from the kitchens.
The fire was lit only between November 1st and Easter, regardless of weather conditions.
It was also one of the few rooms were monks were allowed to talk to each other.
The first floor of this building was usually the muniment room, where the abbey's books, papers and documents were stored. The heat from the warming house below helped to keep the books and papers dry during the winter.
Do you think that being uncomfortable brings you nearer to God?
