The Monks' Dormitory
This is the undercroft or cellar below what was the monk's dormitory on the first floor. |
A staircase, the Day Stair, leads down into the cloister. At the north end, there is another doorway into the south transept of the church. From here, the Night Stair led down into the choir section of the church, so that the monks could easily attend the night time services. |
At the south end of the dormitory was a door to the monks' toilet or reredorter. |
