A Monk's Day

There was only one heated room in the abbey (apart from the kitchens). This was was the warming house.
The fire was lit only between November 1st and Easter, regardless of weather conditions.
The first floor of this building was usually the muniment room, where the abbey's books, papers and documents were stored. The heat from the warming house below helped to keep the books and papers dry during the winter.
It is close to the cloisters, which were the study area.
