A Monk's Day

The church was divided into several sections.
Women visiting the abbey were only allowed into the Galilee porch outside the west door.
The west end of the nave was reserved for the Lay Brothers.
There was a retro-choir, an area for monks too old to take an active part in the services.
The whole of the east end of the church (the choir) was used by the monks alone. They spent between 7 and 10 hours here each day.
