PreventionsAt first, long duration/low intensity aerobic exercise helped me to convert. 500-1000mg magnesium also seems to work when I feel my heart getting irritable.
Current medications/side effects50mg Atenolol
7mg warfarin
I've tried everything else, but they eventually stopped working.
Past medications/side effectsI have taken almost everything. They either had bad side effects, didn't work, or eventually stopped working.

Was on amiodorone (the medication from hell) for 30 days. Didn't work and I gained over 30 lbs in that month.
Had severe side effects on sotolol.

Felcinide and ibutilide were the best until they each stopped working.
History of surgeryEP study
RF ablation (unsuccessful)
DDDI pacemaker insertion
PVAI surgery at Cleveland Clinic in May 2006 (I feel 100% better). Restored NSR. Only 2 days of a-fib that went away on its own. Very few symptoms, very few palpatations. Best I have felt in 10 years. I highly recommend PVAI surgery at Cleveland Clinic.
Future plansReturn to Cleveland Clinic for a followup in Oct 2006.
Personal commentsI played football in college and was a competitive racquetball player. I also used to ride 100-150 mile bike tours. I am now out of breath climbing a set of steps and struggle to force myself to work out. I feel every irregular beat that my heart makes and it is very annoying. It creates a sense of anxiety.
Ever since the PVAI surgery, I feel great. Still a little winded but it's getting better.
