Current medications/side effects | Flecainide (100mg per day)and Irbesartan (350mg per day)Low dose aspirin once a day.
Haven't noticed any side effects to speak of, but may notice more 'heart flutters' than before and also appear to be aware when I am getting close to needing the next flecainide, i.e keeping the levels constant in the blood stream seems to be best by taking as close as possible to each 12 hours. |

Past medications/side effects | Sotalol - devastaing! turned me into a complete gibbering wreck. No energy, couldn't sleep, depressed to the point of feeling suicidal, and didn't stop the AF either. Slowed heart rate down to less than 40 on some days. |

History of surgery | None |
---|
Future plans | Just want to find a cure so that I can live a normal life again. |

Personal comments | This has been pretty devastating and I find myself very tearful and depressed a lot of the time, especially when I start to feel a flutter and wonder if I'm going into AF again. GP's OK but don't really seem to appreciate the mental effect this can have, as they merely see it as 'not life threatening' and tell you to get on with your life. Easier said than done. Cardiologist seemed more in tune with the psychological effects illness can have but no real answers. I really hate the idea of being on drugs for the rest of my life. Great to find this site and realise you are not alone. |
