Age | 54 |

Diagnosed condition | A FIB |

Years with condition | PVC 8 years, A FIB 3 years |

Duration of episodes | anywhere from 15 minutes to 5 hours |

Event preceding first AF | nil |
---|
General health | Good |
---|
Current state | apart from A FIB my health is very good |
---|
Triggers | More than 4 nips of Alcohol in one sitting.
Caffeine |
---|
Preventions | I have kept a diary of everything I have eaten during the past 6 months, but the only obvious Triggers that I have found are the ones listed above. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Tambocor 50mg twice per day.
Slight dizziness and light headed, nothing drastic enough to affect my everyday living.
My doctor doesn't like it, but I try to keep my blood thin with garlic and light consumption of alcohol - 2 nips per day. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Aspirin, had to discontinue due to stomach problems. |
---|
History of surgery | No surgery, but I have been treated for a bleeding Stomach Ulcer. |
---|
Future plans | I am becoming convinced that the Mini-maze procedure offers the best hope to get rid of this condition once and for all. I hope to wait a couple of years until the procedure becomes established in Sydney. |
---|
Personal comments | I find AF to be like walking around with a time bomb in my chest, never certain whether today is going to be an AF day or a good day. I just wish that i could find every trigger for these events so that I could avoid them. That is the biggest mystery for me, one day there is A Fib and the next day it is gone, why? |
