Name | Barbara |
---|
Location | NY, USA |
---|
Age | 55 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Lone Afib |
---|
Years with condition | 5 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | varies, can be months or a year |
---|
Duration of episodes | 10+ hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | weight gain |
---|
General health | good health but still overweight, have lost quite a bit but not enough yet |
---|
Current state | waiting for the next episode |
---|
Triggers | alcohol. Don't know any others as it usually happens at night when I am sleeping. Cold drinks do not bother me and diary does not seem to be a trigger as I have gotten episodes several times when I was vegan and not since I added dairy back to my diet. I have eliminated all caffeine. |
---|
Preventions | Taking magnesium seems to help as it has reduced my ectopics a great deal but it is too soon to see if it helps reduce my AF episodes. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Sotalol 80mg bid. Side effects are being more tired but that has decreased with time. Also I have not been able to continue to lose weight since my Sotalol increased from 40mg to 80mg. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Sotalol 40mg bid, no side effects with this one but it did not keep me in NSR. |
---|
History of surgery | Minor stuff that has no association, knee surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, ovarian cyst surgery, etc. |
---|
Future plans | Wait and see if the increased dosage of Sotatlol does a better job of keeping me in NSR, continue to try to get the excess weight off and continue with the magnesium and see if that helps overall. If I continue with episodes or they continue to get more frequent, I plan on seeing a EP and making an appt with Dr Natale. |
