Age | 47yrs |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Mitral valve leak and triscuspid valve leak (both minimal) and Atrial Fibrillation |
---|
Years with condition | Many I suspect but only know 6 months |
---|
Frequency of episodes | Lessening all the time as I discover triggers, so...3 X a week |
---|
Duration of episodes | an hour |
---|
Event preceding first AF | Very very high stress on on going basis as teenage daughter got herself on drugs and was missing overnight a lot of the time, 1st attack came after an argument when I was overtired (up all night looking for her) |
---|
General health | Non smoker, very occasional drink, mild asthma with hay fever, hypothyroid |
---|
Current state | Feeling great! |
---|
Triggers | Lack of sleep, STRESS, Adrenalin (even pleasant adrenalin rush), migraine, sometimes excercise can bring it on.Monosodium glutamate. Food additives (havent isolated which ones yet but again savoury foods)
Digoxins and suplhates (Preservatives) in processed cooked ham, meats etc |
---|
Preventions | Not over eating, not getting overtired, drinking grape juice, eating organic everything, avoiding sugar, taking multivitamin and magnesium supplements. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Bisoprolol when needed, and plavix (anti platelet)
Occasional antihistamine (benedryl) and lorazepam |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Previously tried atenolol, (woke me at night with odd short runs of V tach), soltalol ..( felt ugh) and flecainide, no side effects and controlled Afib and ectopics well
|
---|
History of surgery | Non on heart but Dilate & curettage (5 times after miscarriages) and apisectomy on gum....heart stopped during labour due to dehydration and haemmorrage putting body into medical shock, was resusitated.
Leg vein ligation. |
---|
Future plans | At present am feeling my way as to how things affect the Afib, so far so good, seem to have found some good preventatives(magnesium and grape juice) (Not necessarily together lol)
May have to have a mitral valve replacement sometime in the future and would have a maze procedure then. If that valve op isnt necessary, hoping for cryo ablation when the technique is more perfected or the Afib controls my life more than at present. |

Personal comments | This is a great resource, thanks james! |
