Name | Tom R |
---|
Location | Texas |
---|
Age | 38 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | panic, benign ectopics (funny beats), now a lone afib |
---|
Years with condition | first AFIB |
---|
Frequency of episodes | I think I had one other about 3 years ago at high altitude |
---|
Duration of episodes | 8 hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | COLD SLUSH, minor flu-like symptoms, stomach acid, caffine, nicotene, cold medicine, withdrawing from the evil drug effexor |
---|
General health | Good, but overweight, just quit somoking and excessive caffine. I have had a treadmill test and echo, all very good. |
---|
Current state | no afib but some funky beats when stomach is upset. |
---|
Triggers | ICE COLD DRINK right before AFIB w/ "brain freeze"
stress, elevated BP, lack of sleep, psudophed, coffee, nicotene, withdrawl from Effexor. |
---|
Preventions | Not sure yet, let you know in a year or so :) Or maybe less. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Toprol XR 50MG X2 - makes me a bit tierd but not too bad. Xanex - love it to calm my fear, but can get hooked on it. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | none for afib, just antidepresants and anti-anxiety drugs. |
---|
History of surgery | none |
---|
Future plans | Never smoke again, eat smaller and less fatty foods, decaf. Exercise everyday (the only thing that really has a long term calming effect on me). |
---|
Personal comments | I think reflux and anything that stimulates my esophogus causes almost all of my funny beats and my AFIB. Doctors who don't believe this can read these boards and then try to deny the connection. It is not that stress causes the beats (i don't think), it is the effect on the esophogus or vagus nerve. |
