| AFibbers Database: Dennis C | | |
Name | Dennis C |
---|
Location | St. Louis, Missouri, USA |
---|
Age | 45 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | paroxsymal a-fib |
---|
Years with condition | 16 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | now, approximately once per month |
---|
Duration of episodes | 18-20 hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | holiday heart, excess alcohol |
---|
General health | do not smoke or drink, somewhat overweight |
---|
Current state | occasional episodes |
---|
Triggers | alcohol, flying - altitude - hypoxia, large meal late, onset hours after exercise. My episoldes always happen at night, typically shortly after I have fallen asleep. Lying on my back or left side seems to trigger it. |
---|
Preventions | running up stairs or uphill briefly when I feel the precursor ectopic heart beats. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Attenolol, feel tired on occasion. Aspirin daily. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | I have had in the past Digoxin, verapamil, propanonal. |
---|
History of surgery | none |
---|
Future plans | I would like to try catheter ablation, either RF or newer cryogenic when enough data is available to evaluate. I may try to get my cardiologist to cut back on my beta blocker as I am reading that beta blockers might be contraindicated in vagal induced a-fib. |
---|
Personal comments | I am pleased to know this web site exists. It gives me some comfort in knowing others have this same problem. I would love to know more about ablation. |
