Event preceding first AF	My father has afib and was hospitilized in 1996. After making a call to the hospital to check on him, I stood up, and at that moment I noticed something strange happening in my chest. One hour later, I was diagnosed with afib.
General health	good health; non-smoker; non-drinker
Current state	For the past 10 months I have been in chronic afib. During this time I have been hospitilized twice to try new medications (sotalol, dofetilide). Neither of these was successful. I have had two cardioversions as well during that time period.
Triggers	I can't seem to attribute these episodes to anything in particular.
Preventions	none to my knowledge
Current medications/side effects	dofetilide (tikosyn)500 twice/day lanoxin coumadin no side effects that I can tell
Past medications/side effects	sotalol flecainide norpace lanoxin coumadin
History of surgery	none
Future plans	I have an appointment with my cardiologist to discuss the possibility of cathater ablation.
