Name | Frances Green |
---|
Location | Scotland |
---|
Age | 68 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Lone AF |
---|
Years with condition | approx 20 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | usually ever two weeks sometimes more |
---|
Duration of episodes | from 5 to 30 hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | High Blood Pressure. Stress |
---|
General health | Good! |
---|
Current state | Managable but difficult |
---|
Triggers | Stress too
Have not been able to identify more triggers. Episodes seem to appear after perhaps 6 days usually. |
---|
Preventions | Have changed diet & lost weight. No dairy, little meat, lots of fish and veg, I take freshly juced fruit and veg at least twice a day + whole fruit and veg. Avoid anything pre made, no sweet drinks.
Keep well hydrated and exercise as much as poss. (usually long walks)lift weights.
This regime has helped tremendously! and my episodes althogh still as frequent are no longer painfull.
Would recommend! |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Have discontinued medication except for asprin and losartin(high blood pressure)
Took Ameoderone for one year, made episodes more frequent and made me feel wretched and very ill...sickness, lethargy inability to think straight, and hair loss (hair now growing thicker since stoping Ameoderone) |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Up to eight years ago when the AF became much worse I was not on any medication, have always been a strong person |
---|
History of surgery | None |
---|
Future plans | Explore the relationship between AF and 21st century diet. Feel that it is associated with the sort of lives we lead and food we eat which is often lacking in the things we need most!
If I am sucessfull in continueing to controle my AF to some extent with diet and general 'wellness' regieme, producing paperwork/book to help others!
Do not intend to resort to drug therapy again. |

Personal comments | This is a horrible and life limiting condition! Initially I excepted and tried all the help that the medical profession offered, but successive drugs seem to make me worse and made me feel very ill. I decided that in some way I must be able to help myself and take responsibility for this condition, since then I have had a great deal of success particularly with weight loss and change of diet. I would recommend anyone with AF to buy a good juicer and made good use of it! The extra vitamin and minerals have got to be good. They certainly helped me. |
