Diagnosed condition | Atrial Fibrillation |

Years with condition | 5 |

Frequency of episodes | have gone from occasional to several times a week |
---|
Duration of episodes | gone from 2-3 hours to currently 6, sometimes just minutes |
---|
Event preceding first AF | had short palpitations since childhood |
---|
General health | general health good, except overweight |
---|
Current state | episodes getting more frequent and longer, but not as pounding |
---|
Triggers | episodes often start early hours of morning, currently waiting to have a sleep study to find out if snoring or
sleep apnea could be triggering AFib.
Also stress and anxiety. otherwise very random. |
---|
Preventions | don't know about preventions. avoiding caffiene and salty foods, avoiding very stressful situations.
Trying to see if healthy eating program and weight loss will help. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Verapamil
recently a short time taken off verapamil and tried on Sotalol, but pulse rate and blood pressure went very low so was put back on verapamil.
Have been on verapamil for 25 years after having an EPS study - firstly for palpitations then left on it for AFib.
take warfarin and lisinopril |
---|
Past medications/side effects | as above |
---|
History of surgery | no heart surgery to date. |
---|
Future plans | hoping that losing some weight and being able to exercise more, will maybe lessen my episodes of AFib - worth a try anyway. |
---|
Personal comments | try not to let AFib stop me from enjoying life, getting harder though. Have emotional times because of it sometimes but generally keep activities going and have fairly busy life with voluntary work and hobbies. |
