Age | 24 |

Years with condition | 1 1/2 |

Frequency of episodes | Twice in above time period |
---|
Duration of episodes | Remained until cardioversion |
---|
Event preceding first AF | Nil |

General health | Heavy weight training since 15 years old and heavy alcohol consumption since 18 years old. Minor asthma when young. Overall good health with no illnesses prior to development of AF. |
---|
Current state | Serve ectopic beats at times. Ectopic beats originally caused AF episodes. Now being treated around 95% effectively with Tambocor. |
---|
Triggers | Alcohol, fatigue, stress, change in elevation rapidly (eg walking up stairs). |
---|
Preventions | Burping seems to help (Not sure why). Moderate exercise seems to set it back into rhythm sometimes when getting many ectopic beats. Medication. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Tambocor. Usual side affects as listed. Weakness in the eye muscles and occasional dizziness. However medication received well by body. On supplements of fish oil and magnesium acetate and 150mg of aspirin per day as well. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Beta Blocker. Extreme fatigue and no will to do anything physical. Also no sexual performance. Isoptin next for almost 8 months. Did nothing to prevent ectopic beats however may have stopped AF from occurring. |
---|
History of surgery | Cardiovertered in December 2006. |
---|
Future plans | Not sure, just want to go back to my old life. |
---|
Personal comments | Lived 23 years with no problem with my heart or other health problems. Good health prior to developing AF. When first occurred had no idea what was happening and had never heard of it.
I am a Police Officer that works shift obviously meaning nightshift. Doctor said that change in body clock very frequently could of set it off. Also the Police has a culture of alcohol consumption when no on duty. Used to drink daily. Did not drink daily to excess, maybe 3 to 4 drinks. But on weekends I would binge drink.
I miss my beer. :-) |
