---|
Duration of episodes | 8-10 hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | none |
---|
General health | was very fit distance runner non smoker moderate drinker |
---|
Current state | stable but have forgotten what really well feels like |
---|
Triggers | first episode occured whilst running hard up steep hill whilst training for distance running. just seemed to pop felt like bubble in chest. reverted to normal in about 30 minutes whilst still running.Have given up running but think that excessive exercise would still trigger an attack.Triggered by raised blood pressure so have to avoid overdoing the alcohol. |
---|
Preventions | Blood pressure treatment is now working well after trying several drug combinations this keeps af under control.
The addition of amlodopine to perindopril and dioxososin has worked very well for me.
Not drinking to excess i know just what i can get away with. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Warfarin.. no problems clotting factor quite stable.
Amlodopine.. My wonder drug helped me to sort out raised bp at last.
Perindopril.. No problems some ankle swelling occasionally.
Dioxososin.. No problems
Nebivolol.. No problems
Co-Codamol..No problems a bit de-hydrating. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Flecainide..Didnt really have any effect taken off .
after heart attack.
Sotalol... No benefit taken off
Bendrafluozide..Taken off on introduction of Amlodopine. |
---|
History of surgery | Nose operation 15 years ago
Nerve operation on arm 10 years ago.
Heart attack 1 week in hospital 6 years ago.
NO SURGERY RELATED TO CONDITION. |
---|
Future plans | Would like to have ablation or some form of corrective surgery if possible.Doctor has said that they would probably not consider me for this.Possibly because of heart attack. |
---|
Personal comments | But i am very optomistic about the future. A few years is a very long time in medicine and i am sure that an effective treatment is just around the corner. So hang in there fellow sufferers.
And if yours is triggered by high blood pressure.ask your doctor about amlodopine it has made my life much better.
Best wishes |
