barhelpup

NameR. Baldwin
LocationPittsburgh, PA
Age37
Diagnosed conditionatrial fibrulation
Years with condition6
Frequency of episodes6 in 6 yrs (4 long, 2 short). 3 yrs between last major ones
Duration of episodesSmall ones are less than minute. Long ones are usually 24 to 60 hours.
Event preceding first AFStress, eating heavy late at night. Palp's with standing quick/laying wrong.
General healthNon smoker, occasional beer drinker.
Current stateIn episode, waiting to convert on own as in past.
TriggersI can not say that I have known triggers, however, I have had minor Afib (less than 1 minute) triggerd by standing to quick, laying or sitting up to quick. Common link between my 4 major episodes has been overindulding food before bed, stress (combined work with home), bloated feeling or water retention before bed.
PreventionsOn short episodes (less than 1 minute): calming myself or forcing burp, cough or compression of chest.
Current medications/side effectsToprol XL (no side effects). Take Verapomil when in Afib only (works well to slow heart and take away annoying Afib feeling, i.e., makes you feel normal unless you check your pulse to find it is still there).
Past medications/side effectsN/A
History of surgeryNone
Future plansAfter reading others with late eating symtoms I am going to stop. Also stay away from high salt food at night(Chinese). I will discuss with my doctor possible connections with vagus nerve.
Personal commentsEmail any new discoveries. It seems like a lot of people suffer, I don't understand why someone doesn't dedicate the time to find a common link and cure (maybe triggers to vagus nerve are common?)
