Current medications/side effects | This is the problem. I don't seem to do well at all on the meds. Atenolol 25 mg worked for many years without serious side effects and then suddenly dropped my bp to 90/40 and sent the pulse into the 40s too. I was sweitched to Labetalol which made me horribly fatigued and feeling a strange inner tremor (feels like a fluttery small motor is running inside my head and body) I switched to a cardiologist at Brigham and Womens Hospital who, I heard, specializes in arrythemias in women. She started me on I Cartia XT 180mg. I feel better than I did on Labetelol, but still the motor and still fatigue but not as bad as on the Labetelol. Taking the drug at night helps. Although older, I have a lot of social and family obligations, chronicly ill husband and 90 year old mother who needs help. I need to feel ok |

Past medications/side effects | see above |
---|
History of surgery | none |
---|
Future plans | I need suggestions how to manage things. Otherwise, I feel overwhelmed by what needs doing and how I am feeling. No one in my family knows how little strength I have at times and I don't like to complain. |

Personal comments | I have been treated in the past for acid reflux with famotidine. After drastic diet changes (low fat) I don't have much acid reflux and don't take it except on rare occaisions. I am currently on Zetia for high cholesterol, which remains high despite eating a 40gm fat/day diet (Husband has chronic pancreatitis, non alchohol related, so I cook very low fat. The doctor who prescribed Labetolol took me off my zetia for a month during which time my total cholesterol shot up (shown in a blood test at the end of that month). So I know where I stand with that! |
