General healthGood, very active. Asthmatic as a child, non smoker, little alcohol
Current stateTrying to find a cure! Flecanide doesn't seem to be working after 10 days
TriggersStress and anxiety main triggers.
Social occasions and excitement.
Pushing myself physically
Caffeine and Alcohol....perhaps sugary foods?
Getting too hot or too cold.
PreventionsNone that are consistent.
Current medications/side effectsFlecanide 100 twice daily but may have to stop as it seems to be making things worse.
Aspirin 150, 300 during an episode. Do not want to go on Warfarin as I work with animals outside a lot.
Simvastatin
EPA/DHA oils, TMG,
Coenzyme Q10
Multi Vitamin
Vitamin E 400
Vit C, Garlic
Magnesium 400
Folic Acid and other B vitamins
Past medications/side effectsHawthorne and Taurine when I first started AF. They seemed to help a lot but Istopped taking them when I tried a supplement regime as described by Patrick Holford to lower Homocystine levels. I have successfully lowered levels to acceptable level for my age but still want to lower it further. I am still taking these supplements as shown above.

Sotalol when I was first diagnosed...Terrible, total loss of energy and fuzzy mind
Dijoxin very brief as I had a visual and balance reaction.
History of surgeryNone...just tonsils as a child
Future plansTry to beat it and not let it get me down. Cardiologist thinks I might be customer for Pulmonary Vein Ablation...Would like to avoid it as success rate not guaranteed. There might be other options in a few years if necessary
Give myself breaks and try to slow down a little.
Try to avoid stress and pushing myself physically but important to maintain physical exercise and fitness.
Come off Flecanide
Try to cure myself with good Nutrition and supplements. Experiment with lowering food intake of high glycaemic foods. Find out whether I need to increse potassium? and generaly be more specific with supplement dosages
Have my Thyroid checked.
Personal commentsI have found AF takes over the organisation of one's life a bit and this can be frustrating but I want to not let it interfere too much with my quality of life....though it does! The risk of stroke worries me more than anything and I find that really scarey. My father had AF and started as I have in his sixties. He was put on Dijoxin. He died of a stroke when he was 74. I hope I will be able to live longer!
