Name | David |
---|
Location | Exeter, UK |
---|
Age | 56 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Chronic AF |
---|
Years with condition | 1 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | Continuous condition |
---|
Duration of episodes | Continuous |
---|
Event preceding first AF | Hypertension thought to be root cause |
---|
General health | Good health, fit, good weight, non-smoker, occasional beer |
---|
Current state | Controlled BP; constant AF |
---|
Triggers | Hypertension; following CV experienced occasional 1-off AF attacks, always at 5am, but returned to NSR (except the last time) |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Ramipril (10mg to control BP). No side effects but not convinced of effectiveness
Amlodopine (10mg to control BP - Calcium channel Blocker). No side effects - effective in reducing BP (200/115 to 120/78).
Atenolol (25mg low dose beta blocker) helps reduce oxygen deficit but very cold fingers/toes, ankle swelling.
Warfarin (4mg anticoagulant). No side effects.
General lethargy probably due to one or more of these meds. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Digoxin, gave me cystitis-like symptoms, night sweats |
---|
History of surgery | Cardioversion March 2006; stayed in NSR for 8 weeks |
---|
Future plans | Repeating cardioversion. With NHS meant 6 month wait so paying to go private (planned for July 2006).
Not put on anti-arrythmics after first cv, plan is to start after next cv.
If cvs not long term effective then consider PVA. |
---|
Personal comments | Find the AF a discomfort and sense I'm only operating at 70% capacity. Persistant feeling that my heart is racing slightly; get breathless and tire easily. In NSR felt great. |
