Name | Wade Palmer |

Age | 46 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | A-Fib |
---|
Years with condition | 6 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | every 7-10 days |
---|
Duration of episodes | 10-15 hours |
---|
General health | mild hypertension but otherwise great (workout 2+ hours daily), 6'4" - 180 lbs. |
---|
Current state | Time between episodes is very good but continue to have these episodes every 7-10 days. Episodes don't bother me physically much. |
---|
Triggers | alcohol, chocolate, caffeine, stress, eating(big one) |
---|
Preventions | lack of stress, avoid triggers, etc. But nothing really keeps it away. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Procainamide (4000 mg./day)
Nadalol (100 mg./day)
Calan (120 mg./day)
Accupril (5 mg./day)
One aspirin
One multi-vitamin
No obvious side affects on any of the above |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Had been on Tambacor (worked about 6 months/no side affects), Solatol (did not work and felt terrible) and Quinidine (not sure of that spelling) and it did not work but no side affects. |
---|
History of surgery | none |
---|
Future plans | Am aggressively pursuing ablation...they feel my focal points are in the pulmonary veins and new ablation techniques under development may soon provide a possible alternative. Also hoping new medications become available to better control this condition. |
---|
Personal comments | I personally believe that prolonged exposure to this condition has a deteriorating affect on the heart and, for me, it's therefore vital I pursue options which may alleviate or substantially reduce the frequency of episodes. I'm 46 yrs. old with 3 & 5 year old daughters and want to be around to be a grandfather. |
