Future plansUnder a specialist consultant in local NHS hospital (annnual consultations).Contemplating procedure involving using wire in artery to "kill rogue cells" which cause the electrical irregularity.Consultant is reticent about performing this procedure if the drugs are effective as the success rate is low (30-40%).I would if at all possible like to get off the drugs
Personal commentsI would like to obtain further information on my condition , the medication I am on side effects and the long term picture. I feel that the attitude of the health professionals I have dealt with is very hands off. I am concerned that as soon as my AF was diagnosed further investigation such as its cause were ignored as were other heart related "symptoms" which pre-date the AF.In addition to the history of cardiac problems mentioned above there is also Diabetes and Thyroid illness in my family and I want to explore any links. I have a three year old daughter and another child is due in June.I feel I owe it to my wife and children to find out more about my postion in both the short and long term.
