Name | Paul |
---|
Location | Antwerp, BE |
---|
Age | 58 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Lone Arterial Fibrilation |
---|
Years with condition | 3 since diagnosys but probably a lot longer |
---|
Frequency of episodes | 1 in 6 months to 2 times a week |
---|
Duration of episodes | 1-2 hours after taking tambocor, never tried without |
---|
Event preceding first AF | none |
---|
General health | Exellent apart from AFIB, smoked for 35 years (quit 5 years ago), one bottle of wine a day, hiatus hernia |
---|
Current state | Cured |
---|
Triggers | All the following I presume, if I was sure it would not happen again:
Very heavy ongoing physical effort
Heavy meals
Getting not enough sleep
|
---|
Preventions | Apart from avoiding the abovementioned : If only I knew
Then again, what was a trigger before does not trigger anything the next time. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | tenormin 100 - no sides
cardioasperine - no sides |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Tambocor - did not work as 'stand alone'
But helps every time I get an episode together with other current medication
Cordarone - caused hyperthyriody - lasted 8 months - cured now |
---|
History of surgery | RF ablation Oct 2006. One episode 3 days after ablation. Free of AFIB since !!!!. Off medicine since Jan 2007. |
---|
Future plans | Try to get of Cardarone as everyone says you cannot take this forever (However I take it for 3 years now and aside from some sleeping disorders I do not feel any aggravating side effects)
I try to get a fair idea on PVA history for others with +/-same age and condition. |
---|
Personal comments | Seeking history of people who have already been treated with pulmonary vein ablation to find out about results on the long term.
I am concerned about the number of people having stomach problems together with AF. My GP and Cardio keep saying there is no relation .....
Good luck to all of you trying to get this condition 'solved' |
