PreventionsI stopped smoking, no alcohol, caffiene, chocolate. I can however enjoy cold drinks, eat ice cream and all kinds of dairy. I also try and keep more calm and do some deep breathing when having an AF event.
Current medications/side effectsAbout the only side affect is being tired. Small amount of gum bleeding from the coumadin.
Past medications/side effectstoprol and verapmil - spikes in blood pressure and pulse rate. More dizziness and fatigue. Not keeping me in NSR. More trips to ER. More constipation.
History of surgeryEP study was done and attempted ablation. Unsuccessful!
Have had stress test,TEE, ultrasound

Previous surgery - tubal, bunion, birthmark removal - nothing serious.
Future plansGoing for second opinion to Cleveland (Dr. Natale) in September. Have talked to Dr. Saltman about his procedure and possible second opinion.

Want to pursue ablation with hopes of permanent NSR and no meds.
Personal commentsI have been a very healthly person all my life. I did have some lifestyle changes to make which has been good for me in general. I am trying to lose weight and do more exercise. AF is not fun and very scary to me. I am comforted to know there are other people with whom I can share my experiences with and get support from. I miss being able to do the things I used to. I probably have had this for some time and it just never became bad until now. All docs until now never took the time to check my complaints and questions about. I am my own best advocate. I say keep asking until you get answers.
