| Personal comments | The medications have controlled my heart rate, but it still beats an irregular beat. My doctor and I agree that there is nothing more to do. He even agreed for me to go back to one beer/day. The AFFIRM and RACE studies helped us reach that conclusion. These huge National Health Institutes studies were just released in March. They proved that rate control is as effective (a little more effective) than rhythm control. The measure of effectiveness in the study was survival versus death, as measured over five years. |
