Triggers | I have no known triggers other than dehydration. Have to be careful to dring plenty of water especially after exercising or before flying. As far drinking goes, its not necessarily a trigger, unless I have more than 2 glasses of wine. Exercise used to be a trigger but since I was finally diagnosed with a-fib 3 years, I haven't been up to too much exercise. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | amiodarone - 200 mg./day - tired, no side effects to date
toxprolXL - 50 mg./day - tired, low blood pressure
coumadin - 4mcg./day - losing hair, bruising. |
---|
Past medications/side effects | rhythmol, betapace, cardiazem - ended up with pacemaker because of low heart rate (it would drop into low 30's while on these various medications. Amiodarone is the only thing that's worked for me. |
---|
Future plans | I'm going to see an ep at Texas Heart Institute in Houston. He works with Michael Duncan, who is performing the Maze at St.Lukes. In the meantime, I'm staying on the amiodarone. Hopefull, something better will come along for me. My cardio has talked about the new AF suppression pacemaker and also he feels there is a new procedure coming along where a maze-like procedure can be done with cathethers. |
