Name | Bill |
---|
Location | Pittsburgh |
---|
Age | 55 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Atrial Fibrillation |
---|
Years with condition | just diagnosed but may have had brief episodes for several years. |
---|
Frequency of episodes | Maybe every couple of months I'd feel my heart flutter |
---|
Duration of episodes | last one went on for about four days, may have went in and out, can't be sure |
---|
Event preceding first AF | Was being treated for esophageal reflux, taking protonix 40mg for about 6 weeks prior to this. |
---|
General health | No smoking, occasional drink but stopped that when I found out about the esophageal reflux. Had a kidney stone removed about a year ago. |
---|
Current state | Wondering what to do, what to expect. |
---|
Triggers | I read some of the other profiles, some things seemed familiar. Lying in bed in certain positions, getting up to fast, maybe stress, maybe the heat. |
---|
Preventions | It's just been a few days since I found out I had atrial fib, haven't found any known preventions as of yet but I'd sure like to. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Protoxin 40mg for the esophageal reflux - I wondered if AF could be a side effect.
Coumadin 5mg - just three doses so far - no side effects now
Digitex .25mg - nothing for now |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Codene - have had a problem breathing after taking this |
---|
History of surgery | Ear surgery back in 1966
Kidney stone removal in 2000 |
---|
Future plans | Stay on top of this and take it one day at a time, learn as much about this as I can. |
---|
Personal comments | I'm new to this and right now I don't know what to expect. I'm not sure if I should just go back to my normal schedule or just take it easy.
I felt ok yesterday morning, so I worked some, was out in the heat a good bit and dealt with some stress. Later in the afternoon and evening I didn't feel well. Late last evening I guess I went into normal rhythm and was able to get to sleep. I think I'll try to take it easy today.
I always thought I was in pretty good shape, but now I'm wondering. I don't look my age, have always had a heart rate in the 50 to 60 range, blood pressure sometimes up but mostly normal. I did well on the treadmill, they had to tell me when to stop, nothing showed up while I was doing the stress test. This is starting to make me feel old. |
