Duration of episodes | constant now |

Event preceding first AF | ?? think it was present long before it was recognized - pneumonia |
---|
General health | Poor - Chronic colonized pseudomonis, chronic lung infection, avium bacterium, O2 constant, non smoker |
---|
Current state | Permanent pacemaker, 2nd ablation performed today- 1st one nearly killed me. |
---|
Triggers | Pneumonia, otherwise currently in constant episode, on 02 constant, |
---|
Current medications/side effects | Pacemaker implanted August 2006. A Catheter Abalation of AV Node today - Hopefully will eliminate all heart medications except Coumadin |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Had ablation by orthoscopic surgery dec 2005 - Hospitalized for 3 months - nearly died - no positive effect and health state is far below that of before surgery. Detection of a swallow problem is the only positive outcome of this surgery and my family recommends EXTREME Caution before having this surgery as a lung is deflated and peumonia is somewhat common
Coumadin,Amioderone and 4 others - with every nasty side effect in the book evident. Found DRs unwilling to acknowledge them - very frustrating. Life became mostly misery although i know others who love amioderone.

Future plans | hope to actually feel better - and perhaps be allowed back home from Nursing home. I left a healthy 80 year old just shy of 1 year ago and am now a near invalid. |

Personal comments | You are the only person in charge of your health despite what Dr.s tell you. Learn all the side effects of every drug and proceedure that is recommended. New proceedures are often exciting and can be effective but understand that you may become a deciding statistic for future reference. Don't expect miracles -
Appreciate what you have now - it may disappear tomorrow. |
