Name | Anon |
---|
Location | Taipei |
---|
Age | 38 |
---|
Diagnosed condition | Suspected Lone A-fib |
---|
Years with condition | 3 |
---|
Frequency of episodes | Originally monthly, now daily |
---|
Duration of episodes | 10 mins to 2 hours |
---|
Event preceding first AF | None - Monday-morning stress maybe? |
---|
General health | Former smoker, very occasional drinker |
---|
Current state | Variable - currently in good health |
---|
Triggers | Lack of sleep, stress, heavy meals, coffee (regular and decaf) predispose me toward attacks. Highly vulnerable for up to three days following drinking of a few units or more of alcohol.
Heavy exertion (running, climbing stairs, lifting heavy weights) will also trigger a bout (these are the worst kind because a-fib wont allow my body to recover from exertion).
Confined spaces (packed bus or aircraft cabin), stifling humidity and high ambient temperatures also seem to contribute.
Of all foods, only pizza seems to reliably set it off. |
---|
Preventions | Adequate sleep (nap whenever possible), cool temperatures, low humidity, avoiding excercise like stair and hill climbing. |
---|
Current medications/side effects | None |
---|
Past medications/side effects | Propranolol and Nadolol, both of which worsened the condition. |
---|
Future plans | None - awaiting further deterioration before doctors will take any significant action. |
