Preventions | Despite removing as many situations as possible that may precipitate an episode, they still occur. |

Current medications/side effects | Have ceased all medication for AF and other problems for five months. Now taking only warfarin which is considered a sensible precaution to prevent clotting and risk of stroke.
The majority of my side effects have either disappeared or diminished to an acceptable level. |

Flecainide
Valium
Trazadone
Zopiclone
Temazepam
Frizium
Vertigo/dizziness with quite fierce tinnitus; anxiety with panic attacks; a sense of unreality; unpleasant sensations in the sternum region; palpitations and irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation); agoraphobia; quite violent mood swings; tremors in the diaphragm region; itchy skin; sore eyes with blurred vision; cold shiver/pins & needle sensation around face, neck and shoulders (parathesiae); difficulty in achieving a deep breath (disapnea); paranoia; deep sadness; compulsion/obsession; poor relationships; sexual disfunction. |
---|
History of surgery | None
Had 24 Holter test while in full AF episode. |
---|
Future plans | Continue with complete abstinence from all alcohol and prescribed drugs. Continue with exercise programme. Continue with monthly blood tests for INR - currently between 2 and 3.
Have not consulted a specialist for four years.
My doctor wants only to see me if my condition alters. |
---|
Personal comments | I believe that my medical advisors do not know what causes my AF and neither do they have any good ideas about how to treat it.
I believe self education and self help is the key to successfully coping with what is probably a condition for life. Having said that, I live in hope of being completely in remission once the affects of the alcohol and prescribed drugs I have taken for over 32 years, completely leave my sytem and all withdrawal symptoms have dissipated. |
