Watching the solar eclipse is a practical, relevant and awe inspiring experience. As the eclipse is in the Summer holidays, it is an ideal science project to link the primary and secondary curriculum.
The secondary school could make the eclipse the focus of a year 6 induction day. The preparation work begun during the day, could be continued in the primary school after statutory assessments have finished. The first hand observations can be made during the Summer holidays with the project being completed in the Autumn term as part of the first few lessons in secondary school. |
A presentation could be made back in the primary school before the end of the Autumn half term. |
