Changing History
Solar eclipses have altered the course of history. The Greek historian Herodotus told about a fierce battle in 585 BC. It was between the Lydians and the Medes in what is now Turkey.
At the height of the battle the land was plunged into sudden darkness. The two armies stopped fighting. They took the total eclipse as an omen and came together to make peace.
