These are the remains of the main hall of the Infirmary. The roof was supported by two rows of pillars, and beds were placed in the aisles along each side.
At one end would have been an altar, so that sick monks were still part of the community of worship.
Why do you think the monks maintained two separate hospitals, one for themselves and one for others?
